I'm currently playing with an Acoustic 260 mini bass stack and it's great for playing to myself or for band practice, but I'm interested in seeing what my options would be for an affordable stage amp that'll give me the most bang for my buck. In the past I've used my friends equipment or the house inputs, but I want to have more assurance knowing the equipment I have will get the job done effectively and affordably.
Help me out with some input!

Depends on your budget. Luckily there are a ton of nice sounding bass amps under $1,000. I would check out the amps from Gallien Kruger, Peavy, and Carvin. Most have one and two-space rack heads with power amps that are pretty cool, and can get you a nice, tight, sound. If you're doing rock/metal, you need a 4x10 cab, but a 2x10 is fine for jazz gigs and backing up hot singer songwriters.

Great thanks! I've used Peavy before and enjoyed it, but they were a little expensive for what I could use. I'll have to look more into the others you mentioned and get a nice 4x10. What do you use?
